1)構造地質学的手法を用いた沈み込みプレート境界深部のプロセスの解明

■ 研究についてのPR
高知県は世界で最も研究された付加体を陸上に持っています。陸上付加体は南海トラフの化石です。国際プロジェクトである次世代海洋掘削計画は南海トラフ深部プレート境界を対象にして地震発生帯の生きた岩石を得ようとしています。ここで得られた岩石は高知大学コアセンターが管理運営します。陸上付加体からはその化石が得られると考えられています。高知大学は南海トラフの化石と生き物を両方手にし、世界の注目する研究が行われる場所です。南海トラフの地震は何がどのようにどういう条件で破壊して起こるのか?これは、まだ誰も知らないことで,これを明らかにしようと世界中の人たちがしのぎを削っています。
